Obituary for James F Hicks

James F. Hicks 80 went to be with the lord unexpectedly on Saturday on November 14, 2020. He was born in New Castle, IN on October 27,1940 to the late Henry Floyd Hicks and Ada Catron Hicks. Mr. Hicks was a graduate of New Castle High School in 1956. He married the late Helen Lawson on September 18,1973. James worked at Memorial Park for 15 years back in the 60’s and 70’s. Then worked for the New Castle School system in the 70’ & 80’s. He also worked for a tree trimming service in New Castle.
His hobbies included; working on lawn mowers and cars. James liked to invent different kinds of things and collected antiques, old cb’s and talking on cb’s. He also liked collecting badges. Surviving; Son Floyd Hicks (Alicia), sister Bonnie Hedrick, nephew Rodney Hedrick, nephew Scott Hedrick, niece Beverley Holbert Wager (Bob), nephew Rick Holbert, nephew James Holbert and several other nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife and both parents, sister Betty Holbert and half-brother Johnny Lowe.
His visitation will be held Thursday November 19, 2020 from 3-4 pm, with services at 4pm at Community Church on Virginia St. In New Castle IN. Macer-Hall-Marcum-Moffitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, www.macerhall.com to place an online condolence. Please wear a face covering for services.
